Budget austerity, plus surplus operational capacity still proving useful.

Now what would be a move is to open new Abrams production line and subcontractors, and start iterating upon there new derivatives, IFV, ARV, CEV, etc. Like what was planned for the original production run before getting slashed in the guts.

If there was ever a time for the opposite of "commercial solutions " it is the common tactical truck. Threats from landmines to FPVs etc would seem to call a ground up military design. Likewise, a ground up military design could inherently afford better off road mobility & speed.

A 30mm Precision Grenadier System (PGS) will not completely fulfill the Squad in/direct fire needs. So maybe Plts need Wpns Sections w/ LWMMGs ie .338 LM & 40mm GLs.
