Three space ambulances have been designed by three european aerospace contractors. They have varied degree of sophistication, from dumb capsules with high -G reentries to a a more sophisticated vehicle that can glide for a smoother reentry and land on a runway: for faster rescue of a ill or injured astronaut (would be a biconic or a lifting body). The more sophisticated vehicle is also the most expensive, at a cost of a few billion Francs.
