Hi,

in Aeroplane Monthly of December 1981,they spoke about Airspeed AS-42
as twin engined mounted in tandem, fighter project, does anyone hear about
it ?.

AS-42 was an Oxford variant for New Zealand, i think you mean the AS-47 which was a tandem emgine fighter with a pull prop, push prop and twin booms powered by Napier Sabres

As stated you are probably after the AS.47.

According to Airspeed Aircraft since 1931(H. A. Taylor, Putnam 1970) the AS.47 was intended as
a high-speed bomber, rather than a fighter.

I have the 1991 version of this book with "new material".
Page 175:
AS.42 Oxford I to specification T.39/37 for New Zealand, powerplant A.S.Cheetah X, 1938
AS.47 Twin-engined (tractor and pusher) twin-boom bomber project, powerplant Napier Sabre
