Maveric, that's not a mock-up. It's a wind tunnel model with working propellers, tested at the Aerodynamische Laboratorien der FWD (i. e. Aerodynamical Laboratories of the Flugzeugwerke Dresden) in 1960.

Splendid. I like that design very much. An agricultural aircraft, is that what it says?

"An agricultural aircraft, is that what it says?" Yes it was constructed for agricultural use. But when the whole aviation industrie in estern germany was cancelled in 1961 it also ended (soon after). It was replace by the soviet an-14 "bienchen" (little bee) and L-60 Brigadyr.
There was a so called "sozialistische Arbeitsgemeinschaft Landwirtschaftsflugzeug" (socialist working team on an agricultural plane) headed by Ing. Wolf und overseen by Prof. Baade. There where several different agri-Planes planned, from SP-042 till 046. First meetings where in 1959 in series production was invisioned for 1967. If one ist intested in these planes there are several interestiing documents in the german Bundesarrchiv (federal archive) in Berlin-Lichterfelde.

Best Regards
Athpilot

I second that. Anything shedding light on obscure "DDR" aircraft is nice!

Impressive, especially considering life conditions in the GDR: scarce materials, probably no flying lessons, and all your brainwashed neighbors ready to report you for favors with the Stasi. Good engineering and the thirst for freedom built this plane and others like it -- I hope they were successful!

Unfortunately not, although the aircraft was built carefully, but when the engine was started, a lot of oil was
leaking from the engine. Fearing a fire and due to the day already dawning, Jürgen Burlatus, the designer
and constructor and his wife and daughter had to leave the aircraft behind at the improvised "runway",
where it was seized later by the police. The main clue for arresting him came from the found propellor,
which came from a scrapped Zlin Z-42. :-[

There were several attemps to flight from the gdr by self made aircraft and even in balloons (Hollywood made a Film of it [with John Hurt]) For additional information see this book:

From Aero, September 1958:
Two designs from the institute for aeronautical technology of the technical university Dresden,
lead by professor Landmann:

- A jet trainer for the GDR airforce with straight wing, using a NACA-651/412 airfoil, T-tail and
tandem seating. Predicted max. speed 750 km/h and an endurance of 1.5 to 2 hours.
This type is mentioned as Kaplick "Kerl" (chap), Kaplick probably the name of the chief designer.

- A single-seat glider tug, mentioned as Boenisch "Vogel" (bird) with fixed landing gear and V-tail,
powered by an inline engine and able to tow up to two gliders.

Both aren't from a dedicated aircraft company, so it's unclear, if they really count as "projects".

And from Air Pictorial 7/1958.
