Hi folks,
I recently came across Adrian Mann's (rather fine) "Illustration of a Vickers Type 432 firing an Artemis air-to-air missile", at:

(I take it the target is an Me-264.) Does anyone know if the Vickers 432 was ever...

I am in search of something other than the usual poor quality generic drawings (see attached image) and partial images of this weapon that I have already found on-line through several google searches. Is there any thing else available on the AGM-69 SRAM and any proposed derivatives of this...

Thales Air Defence - the company that was formerly Shorts - is about to announce a new missile programme. Known as the Lightweight Multi-Role Missile, it is apparently intended to take the company beyond its traditional field of light SAM systems. Details will be officially released on 2 June.

In the early 1950s, the possibility of Soviet supersonic high altitude bombers resulted in a desire for a longer range, higher speed Sidewinder. This was called Diamondback and had a 12 inch diameter instead of the 5 inch diameter of Sidewinder. A demand thrust bipropellant liquid fuel...
An interesting paper that someone pointed out to me, describing (late 70s?) simulation & research into an AIM-9L follow-on (including the best unclassified description of AIM-9L performance I've found to date):

I've gathered some information on an air-to-air missile that was built in Italy in the late 1950s or early 1960s under the C-7 designation. Reportedly it was tested on Italian air force's F-86 Sabres but was never adopted.
Here is the only photo (or drawing) of the missile that is available on...

Does anyone have an information of the Hughes Asam-1, an AMRAAM derivative that was offered for the UK's cancelled MSAM requirement.
The Asam-1 featured an enlarged diameter solid rocket motor and reached the flight testing stage in 1992.

AIM-95 Agile started out in 1968 as a project of the Naval Weapons Centre, China Lake to explore new technologies for short range, manouvreable AAMs. The US Navy requirement asked for greater agility, shorter minimum range, and greater off-boresight capability. Under the "QuickTurn" program, in...
