In the 1960s, there was an attempt to produce a Cicare helicopter at FMA, under the government of civilian president Arturo Frondizi, but the military coup ended that project.

In the late 1980s, FMA partnered with Techint and Agusta to produce the Agusta A-129 Utility, but the economic crisis and hyperinflation ended that project...and FMA.

There was no independent helicopter project or design within FMA.

In 2025 a new book was published about the projects of Augusto Cicaré

Nice. Another book to add to my growing aviation history collection!

The public is renewed!

When I joined the topic I began to read it from page 1 to the last so as not to repeat photos, texts or fall into the same mistakes as always.

The designation IA-60 that Janes gives to that early variant of the Pucara is wrong, at that time the plane had no designation or name, it was only known as the Delfin project

In fact, there are no internal documents of the former FMA (Fabrica Militar de Aviones - Military Aircraft Factory) that name any variant of the Pucara as IA-60 or Super Pucara.

There were three variants of pucara with turbomeca Astafan turbojet

In March 1974, a team from the IIAE, led by Dr. Reimar Horten, presented a project based on the Pucara, equipped with Astafan jet engines to fulfill the role of an advanced training and tactical support aircraft. The plan is dated November 22, 1973.

The FMA IA-66 Pucará alongside the FMA IA-63 Pampa prototype EX-01. The images show the Pampa's maiden flight on October 6, 1984.

The IA-66 was a variant of the IA-58 Pucará, redesigned to replace its original French Turbomeca Astazou engines with two 1,000 hp American Garrett TPE331-11-601W turboprops.

It came about due to the Venezuelan Air Force's (FAV) interest in acquiring the Pucará, but on the condition that it use US-made powerplants instead of the French ones.

The FMA D.720 was a late-1940s Argentine single-engine jet fighter project designed at the Fábrica Militar de Aviones (FMA) by a team led by French engineer Émile Dewoitine. Developed after Dewoitine moved to Argentina and began proposing new aircraft designs to the government, the project was worked on through around 1948. The D.720 remained at the design stage and was never built, mass-produced, or adopted for active military service.
