Eight such ships with AEGIS and 96 VLS cells. I assume this would make the Marine home of the most powerful surface combatants in Europe? How many Type 83 does the RN plan on procuring? I guess the Italians with their DDX project will also be a serious contender.More firepower – F127 Frigates to be Armed with 96 Vertical Launch Cells

More firepower - F127 Frigates to be Armed with 96 Vertical Launch Cells - Naval News
The future German F127 air defense frigates will be significantly more combat-ready than previously planned. As hartpunkt has learned from industry sources, the ships are to be equipped with a total of 96 cells for the Vertical Launch System (VLS).www.navalnews.com
96-cell VLS' have become the bare-minimum standard for first-tier destroyers, even in Europe. Who would’ve thought?Eight such ships with AEGIS and 96 VLS cells. Right?96-cell VLS' have become the bare-minimum standard for first-tier destroyers, even in Europe. Who would’ve thought?
Playing in the Baltic means that the Russians can throw a whole lot of missiles at you. It’s quite peculiar how European navies, which traditionally fielded large vessels with little VLS armament, have begun fielding their own Arleigh Burke equivalents, filled to the brim with VLS cells. (Even though their main front is with Russia and the ships do not actually need to replicate the BMD concept of the Americans due to the combat environment they will be in.)

True, but @snne was specifically talking BMD and while the Chinese have plenty of ballistic missiles for anti ship use, the Russians lean more so on subsonic, supersonic and now also hypersonic cruise missiles/sea skimmers.Playing in the Baltic means that the Russians can throw a whole lot of missiles at you.
In the article "Die neue deutsche Kriegsmaschine" from corrective an interresting statement was done (this would have to prove itself first):
"Procurement of cruise missiles and rockets for a hypersonic glide vehicle for ground deep precision strikes with a range of 2000 km+" – that's how the order is described in the Ministry of Defense's wish list. According to the list, 500 of these long-range weapons are to be ordered for around six billion euros; the supplier is unknown. In addition, a German version of the weapon is to be developed.
Considering whats in development the only logical systems which appear to be able to come in near time would either be LRHW, ARRW or HACM.

I have bad news for youhopefully they will recover their senses and not build a 10000 tons frigate with 16 vls
oh sure, one of them is must probably living to see the dawn, but hopefully they will be a single ship class, as the americans have seemingly learn to appreciateI have bad news for you
Doubtful. At best you get likely 3 if not the first 4 tho i could also the see the Bundeswehr just using them to replace the F-125 in the long run if they truly want to hold the numbers which wouldn't be so badoh sure, one of them is must probably living to see the dawn, but hopefully they will be a single ship class, as the americans have seemingly learn to appreciate

For Germany, the plot thickens toward a US-optional nuclear deterrent
Opinion: All discussion formats must be expanded to include other European states as soon as possible, argues guest author Karl-Heinz Kamp.www.defensenews.com
The Franco-German group ArianeGroup — manufacturer of both the Ariane 6 launch vehicle and the French M51 nuclear missile — is reportedly considering producing ballistic missiles for the Bundeswehr in Germany.
The company’s new CEO, Christophe Bruneau, explained in an interview published today in Handelsblatt that his group is holding discussions on this matter with France and Germany. “We are examining the possibility of producing ballistic missiles on the other side of the Rhine,” said the executive, who has extensive experience in Germany.

Source with pictures (German, but not yet behind a paywall):The Breezer Bussard is a new German-made reconnaissance and surveillance drone developed by Breezer Aircraft in cooperation with Avilus. Based on the Breezer Sport ultralight aircraft, it aims to offer the Bundeswehr a low‑cost alternative to large systems like the Heron TP or Global Hawk while providing comparable mission capabilities.
Key features include:
Breezer emphasizes that the Bussard is fully “made in Germany”, cost‑efficient, and easy to deploy. The drone has not flown yet; taxi tests are next, with the first flight planned soon.
- Up to 14 hours endurance thanks to expanded fuel capacity (250 liters total).
- 150 kg payload, carrying German-made systems such as the Hensoldt PrecISR 1000 AESA radar (370 km range) and the Argos 15 EO/IR sensor.
- Rotax 916 iS engine (160 hp) initially, with a turboprop option planned.
- Performance: up to 290 km/h, 1,900 ft/min climb, and service ceiling up to 25,000 ft (target: 30,000 ft).
- Compact, low‑maintenance system that fits into a 20‑foot container and can operate from small hangars (MiG‑21 size).
