Hey folks,
here’s your first look at StarCity, a new For All Mankind spinoff series starring Rhys Ifans. Set as a paranoid thriller, it takes place at a pivotal moment in the alt‑history space race — the moment when the Soviet Union becomes the first nation to land a human on the Moon.
The series premiere of StarCity and the Season 5 finale of For All Mankind will both air on May 29th, 2026.

Hey guys, I don’t remember seeing that Mars Space Elevator news scene in Season 4.
Maybe it’s just a typo, or it could actually be a sneak peek of Season 5.

Worldbuilding of the finest
for the story in Season 5, the Shit will hit the fan at hyperbolic speed !
but the Show has tendency to spread bread crumb in previous season.
in Season 4 they show piece of Brazil space program.
why i have the feeling that Margo Madison end up in Brazil Space program ?
(Brazil has not extradition treaty with USA)

Why does every Apple TV series have exactly the same color grading? “For All Mankind” has color grading exactly like “Silo” which in turn looks “Murderbot?” It’s odd that no other streaming platform produces content that is so visually homogenous.

Visually, the stills look exactly like the cancelled series “Constellation.” I honestly don’t think that AI can follow a visual template as closely as these series do. It all ends up looking incredibly bleak and dystopian. “Murderbot” is supposed to be a comedy and it visually makes HBO’s cancelled “Raised By Wolves” look warm and cheerful by comparison.

Somewhere out there, Apple must have very restrictive editing guidelines, or a very specific software plugin, so much so that it makes every series look like it’s part of the same fictional universe.

Or it's actively trying to make a larger fictional universe somehow.

I used to be able to tell what broadcast network was playing on the old CRTs just by the screen hue.

NBC stood out the most as being yellow/sepia.
ABC was my favorite....Star Trek and Bond films looked great...while CBS was darker. I remember watching ALIENS on CBS--and I thought I was watching video tape.

The old COPS program filmed at night on videotape...sodium lights...so dismal. LEDs and digital cameras look soulless to me.

Hey folks,
here’s the first teaser for "StarCity", a new spinoff of For All Mankind starring Rhys Ifans. The series "StarCity" premieres May 29 on Apple TV.
This teaser also reminds me of the great espionage series "The Americans".

It was good for the first 2.5 seasons ... but after that, it turned full throttle on soap opera mode ....

I had to throw away my viewing lens of watching an alternate space fiction and put on my science fiction lens instead ....

The contrast with Project Hail Mary couldn't be starker. That film was fast-moving, colourful, full of emotional ups and downs, witty, and presented space exploration and science as being exciting without apology. FAM now looks drab and slow and in trying to be realistic by depicting politics and personal relationships, it's sidelined the science, which it didn't have to do and shouldn't have. It's forgotten all about why and is embarrassed to be seen as 'nerdy.'

In Season 5 Episode 4, the spacecraft "Sojourner," now called "Sojourner-T" as it heads toward Jupiter’s moon Titan, has received a technical upgrade. Here some screenshots.

BTW, the main plot of season 5 is more political than in the earlier seasons.

I really don't want to be that guy, but anyone who's read Kim Stanley Robinson's Mars trilogy is going to be underwhelmed by the way it's going. Generally, 'broadening the appeal' means 'diluting the appeal to the existing audience while failing to attract a new one.'

As we dive into season 5, episode 8, “Brave New World,” it’s clear the authors are ready to raise the stakes, as we see more space scenes.
The M7 Space Force and USMC are heading to Mars and an asteroid.

For the "modern audience".

Hey folks, the recent episode 9, "Sons and Daughters," started off intriguing as M6 and USMC dropships approached the base "Happy Valley" on Mars, but after just a few minutes, the episode turned IMHO dull and disappointing.
