RSC Energia - Zarya Manned Spacecraft

Here is my personal contribution about this interesting, even if unrealized, project of mid-'80s.
It was essentially a Soyuz replacement with an enlarged reentry module (reusable through the exploitation of VKK Buran's TPS) and a small expendeable service module.

The idea has plenty of concepts that Ares & Orion might be wise to borrow. When it was announced that Orion would be reusable, I thought about a lot of the reusability features on Zarya (braking rockets around the circumference of the spacecraft, ceramic tile TPS, etc.) But now it looks like Orion is going to splash down, and the pressure shells will be expendable.

According Anatoly Zak, in 1973 the L3M had enlarge Soyuz capsule of 3.7 meter diameter.
that would be same size of Zarya
that enlarge Soyuz capsule give place for 3 man for 14 to 30 days mission time.

So far i know, yes
Energya system was modular to bring 14 to 200 tons in low orbit or 55 tons to Mars or Moon
it's booster could use als Zenit rocket
Guess Zenit second stage could be use on Energya launcher bring payload in orbit.
and with Hydrolox stage it reach moon mars
that stage with 2-4 booster bring medium payload.

isad that Energya was abandon after collapsing of USSR.
it was such unique launch system

Three more Zarya info posters. The tps diagram is a slightly different configuration to what's shown on an almost identical diagram; implying that that was the test configuration with ejection seats, while the one attached below is the fully operational variant. The first graphic includes what looks to be a Zarya configuration air-launched from an An-225.

we're talking about a space program with at least three different projects named Zarya and at least four named Zvezda in the human spaceflight program alone

Translating is a bad idea; for sunrise or dawn you can then tally Zarya and Voskhod or Rassvet. Anyway, back on topic

i'm referring specifically to translating and *then* tallying program/spacecraft/module names, where you can run into two different words in one language "correctly" translating to the same word in the target language. i mean, it's a neat bit of trivia that the ISS has had two Quests, two Dawns and two Piers but they all have different names, really.
