A bit tired of the negativity towards modern TV and films, much of which I think is deserved, so instead lets have a topic about good TV shows and films you've seen.
I really enjoyed or am currently enjoying these:
The Peripheral (Amazon Prime)
Adaptation of a William Gibson Sci-Fi novel I haven't read. Not afraid to be slow and thoughtful at times. Good acting. Still airing season 1.
Severance (Apple)
Very weird drama thiller with dark comedy and sci-fi overtones. Excellent cast and intriguing premise and the right amount of mystery made it compulsive viewing. Has been renewed for Season 2.
Sandman (Netflix)
Has been criticised by some for recasting some characters as female and more ethnically diverse than the original comic, but this was an excellent and compelling watch. Like all Neil Gaiman's work, it deals with big moral and spiritual matters in a fantastic setting. Season 1 is split into two distinct halves, and some people found the second half less interesting, but I liked it all.
Enola Holmes 2 (Netflix)
Just a fun film to watch with your kids. My 13 year old daughter loved it. First one was also enjoyable.
Howdy !
I gravitate towards watching “ comedy violence “, or tv &movies with such excessive shooting in it that it becomes laughable.
“ Aliens “ w/ Bill Paxton and Michael Biehn. Paxton gave a character performance that remains may personal favorite of all.
“ John Wick “ movie series
“ Shoot’em Up “ with Paul Giamatti and Clive Owen…. who was at one time considered for being a next “ Jame Bond “.
“ The Accountant “ w/ Ben Affleck. Haven’t seen the second movie, yet.
“ Citadel” tv series, w/ Pryanka Chopra. Pokes fun at super spy movies
“ Justified “ tv series w/ Tim Olyphant. Jeremie Davies “ Dickie Bennett “ character made me laugh hard… a lot.
Walter Coggins is also stellar as Boyd Crowder. Joelle Carter brings the heat. Lots of superb casting.
“ 3 Days to Kill “ with Kevin Costner. Just a fun, fun movie. I laughed a bunch. And re-watched, a lot.
The “ Longmire “ tv series. Great characters and story lines. Use of local scenery a people is notable.
“ Yellowstone “ sorta mimicked the Western locale’. This overlaps with….
“ Landman “ tv series. Another Taylor Sheridan effort, so familiar elements with his other shows.
Billy Bob Thornton is great. Vulgar and over-sexualization are presented as the series’ attributes.
“ The Boondocks Saints “ I & II. Lots of action… lots of comedy.
“ The Mask of Zoro “ w/ Antonio Banderas. Light hearted fun, even kids can watch.
“ Open Range “ w/ Costner and DuVall. Faster to get through than “ Lonesome Dove “, but still a great
Robert DuVall Western.
“ Quigley down Under “ - Iconic Tom Selleck character Matthew Quigley, Alan Rickman as the baddie.
