"something of interest" I won't say "too much" but endlessly interesting, & it is summer outsideWelcome to all the recent arrivals, hope you find something of interest.
My channel is actually pretty simple to remember, it’s just Calum!Definitely, if the Secret Project Forum has to make a in-person reunion, on your island it must be (guessing that you might still have a couple of barrels left)!
Welcome @Calumraasay. What is your channel?
¡Hola a todos!
Mi nombre es Abilio Infante. Estoy interesado en la aviación, especialmente de los aviones Beriev. Gracias por permitirme unirme a este gran foro.
Hi @Woodsworks :Hi Folks
My name is Paul, 49yrs old, located in Whangarei, New Zealand. Trained in mechanical engineering and spent my career specialising in designing ships using 3D software to model hull structure and piping systems. I am a lifelong aircraft geek, and a model builder besides, although I'm probably more interested in the history and development of these projects that got cancelled than in actually building models of them. That said, I would like to build a WW2-era escort carrier with some 'Secret Project' types of aircraft on deck, in 1:350 scale....need to keep the size manageable. Wishing I had found this website a lot sooner!
Greetings, fellow KiwiHi Folks

Welcome aboard old chapHello all,
I just joined. I'm Thomas from France. Working in the software industry, but also writer and illustrator.
I'm a technology, defence, aerospace and secret project enthusiast. I own many of the book of the famous "Secret project" series published by Crecy.
Welcome aboard very, very old chapDespite having been a member of this community for about 15 years I have entirely failed to ever post in this thread! Shame on me...
I am the author of the Drake's Drum series of alternate histories. I was born in Africa and grew up in Nigeria and England. I now live in Canada with a wife, five daughters and a neurotic dog of uncertain parentage. Before I became a writer, I earned a living as a photographer and my work was represented by National Geographic Images until the closure of the agency in December 2020. In 2012 I published a travel narrative called Available Light. I am also the author of the Foskits, the Kiwi Bird and the Blue Brontosaurus series of Children's books published by Sergeant Frosty Publications.
Hey Deltafan, when landing here I saw many nicknames that were quite familiar to meWelcome aboard very, very old chapDespite having been a member of this community for about 15 years I have entirely failed to ever post in this thread! Shame on me...

Edit two: bad at grammar and a perfectionist. what a wonderful combo.
I remember the Gimili glider. I was still in the Canadian Armed Forces Air element.Hi everyone, I'm thrilled to be part of this forum! Thanks to @overscan (PaulMM) for founding it, I really like the niche interest here of this corner of aviation and I look forward to meeting the members. I met overscan at The Admin Zone, a great site for us forum admins and that's how I found out about this site.
I have an interest in aviation and like to watch documentaries about aircraft. I'm much more interested in the technical side rather than the commercial side.
I avidly watch the Air Crash Investigation documentaries on National Geographic and other programs. They're a fascinating insight into what can happen when flying goes wrong and most incidents are due to human error one way or another. Unfortunately, most episodes are tinged with sadness though as so many of the incidents portrayed feature great loss of life.
My favourite episode so far is the one about the Gimli Glider. Imagine unexpectedly running out of fuel at 41000 feet! In this instance they managed to land the plane in the most amazing manner, with no loss of life and only a minor injury or two. Read all about it, here:

I'm glad to say that recent series have featured much smaller aircraft and have much less episodes - a sure sign that aviation continues to get safer. Ideally, a series like this wouldn't exist at all.
Finally, I'm the founder of NerdZone Forums where you're welcome to have a look around and join if you like. I currently have a competition running which you might like to take part in.
