"Explorers find 'most famous' Japanese WWII battleship off Romblon's Sibuyan Island"

A Japanese battleship, one of the two biggest ever made, was found more than a kilometer under the Sibuyan Sea off Sibuyan Island in Romblon province.

Microsoft co-founder Paul Allen, who was part of a private exploration team to locate the Japanese battleship Musashi, tweeted that it was found Monday by his superyacht, the MY Octopus.

In another post, Allen said some 1023 men died when it sank after the Battle of Leyte [Gulf] in October 1944.

Allen said videos of the Musashi will soon be published

“We will have video soon of [the] catapult, valve area, first turret hole gun missing, and others,” he said.

According to a report by The Diplomat, the Yamato class of battleships, of which only two were completed, including the Musashi, is the biggest and most famous ever created.

The Musashi had nine 460mm guns, six 155mm guns, 12 127mm guns, 35 3x25mm and 25 1x25mm anti-aircraft guns, and four 13mm guns. The ship also had seven floatplanes.

Prior to Allen’s expedition which led to the discovery of the sunken battleship, it was included in a list of four “great wrecks” that remain a mystery. The Musashi was sunk by American air forces, and its location remained unknown until Monday.

In March 2015, Paul G. Allen and his team of researchers located the Musashi, a WWII Japanese battleship considered one of the two largest and most technologically advanced battleships in naval history. These images of the ship are from the Octo ROV deployed from Allen's M/Y Octopus. Learn more at PaulAllen.com/Musashi-Expedition

Thanks a lot. :D
Without also receiving the aid of a computer before for 75 years, it's good, such, a huge and complicated ship was made. The old engineers were really great and wonderful.
There are people thinking they'll draw wreckage up, too.

I started this thread as an interesting news item that Paul Allen and his expedition had found the wreck of the IJNS Musashi. It was important to me to make my posts concerning this topic to be clinical and emotionally detached as possible and consider the finding of the IJNS Musashi as a relic of history.

I hope that we aren't getting too carried away here in this thread and creating a shrine to the IJNS Musashi and the IJNS Yamato. I remember how my grandparents still felt sorrow and strong emotions on seeing photographs and film taken during World War II 50 years later. I hope that this thread does not cause similar emotions to the survivors of relatives who fought in World War II, particularly those who served in the Pacific or in the Battle of Leyte Gulf. May Japan and the United States continue to be allies and good friends for many generations to come.

I understand your opinion. Many Japanese people love this ship and they can not forget this ship forever. ;)
