Hi interested in any pictures or models of larger versions of kokums Visby class corvette.

Orginaly it was developed as the YS-2000 and then enlarged into the current Visby design. A follow on design was considered with Northrop Grumman as a contender to tyhe FCS, but was not selected to be developed.

IIRC, the NG LCS proposal came in two variants - one with lifting body pods for additional fuel. This was one of the reasons it lost out, as the LCS programme was specifically about a single vessel type.

Here are silhoutettes from a brochure showing the larger proposed variants.

The great irony is that low observability and waterjet propulsion have now become almost universal for surface combatants, although the Visby seemed remarkable a decade ago.

Sweden should consider a multi purpose vessel as a follow on. One below is just an impression of what that may look like.

Actually, the latest that I heard is that since Kockums was purchased by ThyssenKrup, the Visby+ and Visby++ designs are now put on hold, being replaced by the new offering of the MEKO CSL that combines features of the Visby design and the newer MEKO designs.

Yes it is, I should have made that clear, as I did it. It is my impression of what a MRV using visby design features may look like.

Lifting body pods... similar to fuel bladders with a flexible hard shell? I seem to remember a concept for a joint strike fighter configuration with a flexible camel hump for auxiliary fuel. Is what you are describing something akin to that? Any pictures illustrating this specifically?

No pictures on-line, and the copies of JNI and JDW I have archived are only in paper form at the moment. From memory, there were four pods, two on a side, split forward and aft, attached to the hull by streamlined struts, maybe 0.25*beam long. The pods and struts were intended to act as lifting bodies to offset their additional weight. Don't know what they were like inside. The design didn't get far because the requirements called for a single ship with the deployment and speed capabilities.

I've been looking for info on the cancelled Alecto ASW rocket system that was supposed to deploy on the Visby class. It gives the range at a few hundred to 6000 meters. You might need something like the Saab Elma ASW-600 for closer in engagements. This was what I was really looking for.

Visby was to carry two six rocket launchers in the deck in front of the gun.

It could also launch torpedo countermeasures and electronic countermeasures to counter torpedo and anti-ship missile attacks.

The pdf also has details on the design of the hull, OPVs, propulsion system, composites, and a host of other details.
