Was there a 'serious' project for an US Army tiltwing transport behind this Vertol experiments in connection with the NASA?

It seems like the artwork is signed "M. Metzler", but I've been unsuccessful so far in identifying that artist.

It does have something Hiller-ish about it. The closest Hiller design I've found is the Model 1057, but it's still pretty different in that it has a tail rotor and also a single, not twin, fin.

Not if you forget to mention that this design was also identified last week in another topic as the "Piasecki Model 76". This became the Vertol Model 76 program when the company changed names (after Piasecki's departure), and existed only in prototype form as the Army's VZ-2. Not that Boeing had not yet taken over Vertol at that stage.
