North American Aviation SST in 1961. Which is correct? Wing tip hold down or not?
NAA's this concept was very similar to early Republic's concept which boxkite taught us.
Republic's concept had a double delta wing.
Northrop LFC wing SST concept had a same shape.
And Republic's another plan.

Actually, it was. I have the Convair diagrams of the thing around here, somewhere. That's the first time I've seen that done up in USAF duds... the same painting is usually shown sans military logos.

That one has been floating around for a while, and so far as I'm aware nothing more has come out on it. It might have been an actual Republic design... and it might have been just an artistic doodle. It looks both reasonable and quite generic.

Back in the day it was quite common for art like this to get military and civilian logos swapped on and off. See: http://up-ship.com/blog/?p=2585

I imagine it would be even easier today, just swap texture maps on your CAD model. But with todays CG art, it's just as easy to produce whole new views with the different "repaint" where just a few decades ago it wasn't cost effective to do more than just tinker with a fixed image.

I think that only you can do it. ;) (How about one book for each company? Boeing, Lockheed, Douglas, Convair, Republic, Northrop, GE, P&W and Curtiss Wright......., time table, chart, each plane or engine's drawing and spec, etc)

I'd be willing to kick $125 into the kitty if I could get the actual drawing after everything was scanned in.
 
So long as I have the scans, I'm happy. I'd like to be the guy who does the scanning, cuz I want to make sure it gets done right and well, and I know I can. But if others want the actual bits, that's fine. Just so's there's agreement on who gets what.

I've been reading this thread with considerable interest. I first read about the SST program well after it was over, and consider not building this a considerable loss. Simply, I was reading about this in high school in '76, after reading the somewhat poorly written novel about a maiden US SST flight called Flight One, by Charles Carpentier. Also, I ended up with a copy of The SST: Here It Comes, Ready or Not, at a local library book sale.

At this time, I'm trying to pull together the things needed to build at least one of these planes in Microsoft Flight Simulator X, especially interested in the Lockheed SST design. One of the most important things would be clearly readable images of the cockpit, so I can read better what is supposed to go where. In any case, this thread has been more than useful, but I couldn't access some of the items linked to. Put simply, any of the ones with a .mil address denied me access, and some of the NASA items also went away.

In creating a definitive source on this, I'd also find a way to obtain the videos as well, several of those were also gone. There's also the usual link rot setting in.

While I have the Don Dwiggins book on my mind, among the other images was one of a Convair HST. Anyone have any clues on this one? My copy of the book is still in storage, so I'd have to try to scan it later.

Philippine model, produced and sold in quantity by the same seller for the past 6-7 years. He makes a good-looking Air Force One variant. Of course, none of these models have any historical significance.

The article from Air Progress discusses the possibility of developing a bomber version from the B-2707. The conclussion that is not a good idea because the SST design don't work well in the bomber role.
Thus, if I'm right, the cover art is purely ornamental.

Hmmm...You are absolutely right. Anyway the range of B2707-200 was only 2000n.m. ;D
