Regarding the Albanies, did the USN wanted Polaris launchers on them?

The original conversion plans featured Regulus II. This was apparently changed to Polaris during conversion - prior to being abandoned - and was planned from the outset for the cancelled FY60 conversions.

FWIW, Wikipedia has an unsourced statement that the Polaris tubes were to have been abaft the funnels, which doesn't seem to be any less plausible than between them. Someone may have better sources.
