Unknown rifle with rifle grenade attached

The frame appears to be custom made? 1915?

Rifle looks like a standard Gewehr 98 to me, and the launcher frame was apparently at least somewhat standardized.

The rifle grenade looks like the standard rod type the Germans used in the early period of that war.

The rod is inserted into the barrel of the rifle and a blank used to launch the grenade. The brass 'button' on the end of the grenade is an impact fuze. The rod gives the grenade some stability in launching and flight.

The rifle was usually one that was worn out or otherwise not suitable for use as a rifle since firing grenades this way pretty much wrecked the accuracy of the weapon because of the added recoil firing the grenade caused.
