Looks like it will have an Integrated Rocket Ramjet, and going from the last link a complex active/passive radar guidance coupled with Infrared Imaging and ECCM and IRCCM.

Seems like production programme has not been authorised, so we may just be seeing basic research on the weapon with an eye to future development.

"Japan’s Ministry of Defense (MoD) completed development of its first domestically designed supersonic anti-ship missile, designated XASM-3, with mass production of the new weapon system slated to begin in fiscal year 2019, according to local media reports.

The XASM-3 has been specifically designed to be carried by the Japan Air Self-Defense Force’s (JASDF) F-2 multirole fighter jets, a Mitsubishi license-produced variant of Lockheed Martin’s F-16. It'll probably do well enough against poorly-maneuverable aircraft like MPAs or AEW.

In any case, if this works out, Japan will have an air-to-air missile with a range of 300–400 km or more for the first time.

Some photos show it carry ASM-3 on station 3/9, some show it carry on station 8/4
But I haven't seen any photo showing it carry both

They're only 2000lb weapons. IIRC the F-16 could carry 2000lb weapons on the outboard pylons.

Orginally, the requirement for F-X had always been to carry 4 with drop tanks and AAM. It's the reason F2 has a larger wing with one extra station compared to the F16. It can carry a total of 6 if need be.

ASM-3 launch sequences start with it droping down before launch, so maybe the tolerance is much closer?, I mean ASM-2 arrangement look pretty close stacked also
