Syd Mead - Visual Futurism

Just heard on the radio. I posted earlier on this thread about having been a fan for many years. His designs are part of the alternative 1975 that gives my handle here. The land of lost dreams
 
We have lost a great artist.
Glad to hear that the Art Directors Guild gave Syd Mead a big send-off in November. It is always better to tell people that you love/honour/respect them before they die.
 
Sad news for me, too.

There were exhibition of his works in Berlin FUTURE CITIES, that ends just a few days, after great artists passed away...

I have the US Steel book published in 1960 with Syd Mead's artwork throughout. It's a wild ride through guessing what the future might hold 45 to 50 years out (at the time of publication). They thought we would have landed on other planets (I think including Venus) and had cities there, it seems....

Also, everyone would be wearing the equivalent of riding boots (just about up to one's knee)....
