Hi everybody

I am searching for every Information about the Sombold So 344
The Sombold So 344 should be used against the allied Bomberformations with its 400kg Warhead
There is a source that says the Warhead is a anti-aircraft version of the Fritz-X the so called Fritz-Z
The Sombold So344 should be also used against Ships but with different Warhead ?
Is that Right and are there any Pictures of it ?
Some Sombold ideas i have heard about:
the so called "Schleuderstart","Einradfahrwerk" and the "Zerlegbares Flugzeug zur Pilotenrettung"
Is there anybody who knows more about these Projects ?

Here are my sources

http://www.combatsim.com/memb123/htm/2002/05/swotl5/
http://discaircraft.greyfalcon.us/STOCKEL%20RAMMSCHUSSJAGER.htm (Rammschussjäger)

Thanks in advance

AF, we appreciate you wish to help, but we have strong rules...

Now I hope it is OK.

Here is my find to Stockel Rammschussjäger - powered by mixed propulsion system (solid rockets/ stockel ramjet). It was planned for ramming attacks (and it had 200Kg of explosives in nose) - pilot could eject or stay in plane...span - 7m, length 7,2m, max. speed 1000km/h

Just a clue : You shouldn't google for "Rammschussjäger" or "Totrammjäger",
both names sound very much like babelfish translations and no german engineer
would have given them to his creations, unless he had consumed several litres
of the good german beer ... ;D

Another Googling hazard: this site transcribes the name as "Sombolt So 344": http://www.candymountain.jp/Home/planes/LUFTWAFFE/so344.html
Couple of reasonable images, including one of an So 344 apparently discharging its nose-rocket at a Republic F-12.

Good Work EVERYBODY! Thanks for information about that.
To AF: Do you have some more Data about the Stockel Rammschussjäger, Please ?
What about the Launch System of the Stockel Rammschussjäger?

Thanks in advance

Not much other data.

Take - off: plane was to have been transported to launch point as a mistel cobination.

Does anyone have access to a library with old back issues of Der Flieger? I was re-reading "Luftwaffe Secret Projects, Ground Attack & Special Purpose Aircraft" and the author mentions that there is more info and drawings of the the Stöckel ramjet-rocket interceptor proposals in "Der Flieger" Luftfahrt und Raumfahrt International, Vol. 47, No. 1 (January 1968). If someone has access to that issue and could post scans of the article here, that would be great, as I'm sure it would be of interest to many board members.

What on earth...

I thought I'd seen most of the Napkinwaffe, but that three-engined monster is new to me !!

What is it ? And how real ??

( I did just enough Technical German at Uni to develop a loathing of post-fix languages... )

Hi
I don't know if this is of any use, but I found a very old file set of the Stockel.
I've thrown a few together on a single plate.

Many thanks

Hi Flitzer,

does that old file contain more Stockel projects? Thanks!
By the way, excellent renderings, as usual ;) .
