Hi,

here is a strange Russian experimental sailplane,it was called Kashuk
and designed by A. Manotskov.

Is it, or is it not a revival of the principle used in the Rey R-01 from 1949 ?
There, only the outer wing panels were movable.

This is Alexander Manotskov 'Kashuk' experimental glider, built in Antonov OKB in 1952. Record-breaking A-9 glider was used as a basis. It can't be called ornithopter, but amortised wing with wingtip amplitude to 4 meters improves L/D and sustains optimal gliding speeds according to Shavrov.

Kashuk name said to be taken in honor of Oleg Koshevoy, leader of 'Young Guard', an anti-nazi youth resistance group

Btw, Kashuk experimental glider took part on the Tushino Air Parade (3rd July 1955) during the DOSAAF flying display.
