Hi Everyone!

Here's a colour sideview of the Jet Thunderbolt concept.

I can't find any three-views yet.

Hi Again!

From the same source, here are some profile line drawings of four different concepts for the Jet Thunderbolt.

The first time I saw the Jet Thunderbolt was in "The Thunder factory", a very serious History book about Republic factories and designs. I transmitted it to Justo Miranda, that made searches then by himself.

I thought the Jet Thunderbolt was purely fictional and not based on any design work done by Republic?

I'm pretty certain that it wasn't fictional. Justo Miranda does have some project numbers and such for the intermediate steps from P-47N to F-84.

Maybe Thunderjet, since that's basically what it became anyway?

EDIT: Just wanna be clear I'm not trying to be a smartass :p

Just for shifts and giggles, from the Ted Nomura comic Luftwaffe 1946

Here you go:

No, you're not.

I was just trying to come up with something different.

:)

My take in 1/48 scale (donor was Academy P-47M kitbashed with an old Hawk F-84, and a lot of scratchbuilding to blend both); early construction photo, it's mostly finished now.

What's with the center of gravity?
You'd have to either move the wing rearwards or put the jet right in the front to compensate taking out the huge radial.
(Though taking the turbo off from the rear helps somewhat.)

Topics merged.

Has anyone found any conclusive evidence yet that the project was actually on Republic's drawing boards at some point, other than the artist's concept in Reply #7?
