Technically it entered service....but didn'y in reality.

In many ways it was very prescient, but 15 years too early...and it didn't really drive the price down like it should have. MBDA, and the customer, were still seeing it as a niche capability...rather than mass.

The fact that MBDA didn't immediately resurrect it in 2022 is very instructive....as to their attitude and its design.

Named in BILD and Politico where the following 4 systems / Idea's:
- US Typhon/Tomahawk purchase (from 2029)
- GER-UK cruise missile (from 2032)
- GER-UK hypersonic glide vehicle system (from 2035)
- Low cost cruise missile (from 2027)

The list doesn't include any Marine or Luftwaffen projects like JSM, Taurus Neo or 3SM Tyrfing.

Now for some informations about each one:

1. The Tomahawk sale is still in its early early stages and believed to only seriously beginn not for mid 2026 and theres still the problem of how far Block Vb is in development.
Personal opinion: If the capabilities of Block VB aren't as mutch needed then maybe LCM 2 would truly be a better alternative...

2. Both GER-UK projects don't have any new informations but with the development of B-1000 and B-2500 the glider may be really just a glider and could use a common ballistic rocket motor across from europe. In general the capabilities intended under ELSA, B-2500 and the the hypersonic glider project are all every close.

3. Named contenders where Firepoint specificely with FP-5 which Diehl is already trying to get into local german production and a company named Covenant. Covenant, which i assume is Covenant Industries Inc./GmbH, is a very low profile and new company. The in germany registered part exist since 2025 with very little informations but Politico reports ties across USA and Israel.

Coming back to this as we got a little bit of news here in the short format:
- 12 billion euro Budget
- ~9,2 billion for the hypersonic system
- ~1,9 billion for the cruise missiles
- first prototypes for the low cost missiles are to come this year
- we also got our first look at Anthem which seems to have flown few days ago
