Major incident at RAF Fairford - NEWS ONLY !!!!!

I could very well see this being an attempt by the US to get the UK to join in on their losing war against Iran, or use this to increase their troops presence in Britain even further. Because this seems too half hearted, convenient and easily thwarted "just in time" (as many of these instances). When Iran would've more than likely extensively utilized drones in such an attack. After all they showcased over the entire MENA region that they can identify, target and destroy strategic US assets with drones and missiles quite easily. Smuggling a couple drones into the the wide open borders of the UK is far easier and less conspicuous than three wide vans filled with what seems to be Africans, lol. Not to mention that it's infinitely harder to destroy well defended tankers and AWACS than it is to destroy virtually undefended bombers on UK soil.

Given the recent pattern in the western controlled sphere with all these supposedly"russian" drones and "iranian" plots everywhere, this is imo exactly what it is except both US, UK and likely the unmentionable entity are on it behind the scenes, just another attempt to forment hysteria and manufacture consent for yet further war escalation be it again Iran or Russia or both. This is so transparent that no one with half a brain can be fooled.

Rural crime is a problem in the UK, and not just rustling livestock, with vehicle thefts high on the list. Fuel theft is a problem in the UK and not just the odd drive off without paying from a garage forecourt, but vehicles, cars and vans, fitted with extra tanks to hold quantities larger than a normal fuel tank. And with diesel at 199p per litre on average and up to 240p per litre, nicking a large quantity from a farm tank, even if they have to remove the red dye, would be a lucrative nights work.

Clearly something was expected at Fairford last week. But if there was evidence that these 5 were in fact terrorists, rather than common criminals, they wouldn't have been released on bail. Big mistake to choose to undertake their activities near a defence establishment when tensions were heightened.

A really good book on this topic is Soldier Spy, by Tom Marcus. As an ex-spook he discusses some operations tracking suspects in the UK and the number of people and logistics involved. Very enlightening.

Sounds perfectly plausible to me.
I live in a rural area, equipment and fuel theft are reported here often enough to make people suspicious of loitering vehicles, especially panel vans.

First report was as "a potential attack on the base", which is a very different thing than "bunch of dudes stealing diesel were scared off and ran towards the base"

Does the UK not have Copper Thieves, usually supporting a substances habit?
 
The FueltoYou seen on one of the vans is said to be fake.

This from another site

Fuel2You doesn’t exist, there is a Fuel2U company but it has confirmed that its two vans are in London. The phone number doesn’t appear to be a real one either. So this appears to have been an attempt to fake a company identity for use on the vans in order to throw off casual suspicions.
