Lockheed (Vega) V-307 helicopter

Attached photo of a small helicopter, reportedly the Lockheed V-307 (V for Vega division).
Was this real or is photo a fake and/or of a mock-up?.

I am guessing that it is just a mockup. Though I don't know anything about it. I am posting because I am interested in how it was powered. It looks as if it could be one of any number of methods. Is there a motor in the hub? Are there tip-jets on the blades? The fairings at the blade tips could house small electric or model engines that could power the rotor around. Or maybe there is a clutch mechanism in the rotor hub and the pilot furiously moves the control column side to side to get the rotor to turn.

Could even be a powerless gyro-kite.

The V-307 was a 1944-45 project. My guess is that the photos show only a full-scale mock-up.
