Mainly known for his quite successful Rider R-4 racer (also known as
"Schoenfeldt Firecracker"), Keith Rider designed several other racing
and record aircraft, from the Super-Speed Racer from the year 1934 to
the1939 "Rider 500-mph-Racer", which was intended to conquer the world
speed record. Non of those designs ever came to fruition due to financial
contrains.
The designs by Keith Rider and his actually built aircraft are theme of an article
in the German Fliegerkalender 2012.

The 1934 design was to have a V-16 engine designed by Harry Miller that never became a reality.
The V-16 was one of a family of notional aircraft engine designs by Miller in the early to late 30s,
various capacity V-12 and V-16, inverted and upright, layouts were sketched. Author Mark Dees,
The Miller Dynasty, is of the opinion that these basic designs are the same ones that Preston
Tucker later flogged to the Navy and Army in an attempt to gain funding for an engine plant. The
inspectors were not impressed with Tucker's promises or facilities, and rightfully so as Tucker had
a habit of making promises he couldn't keep.
