transport aircraft,powered by two P&W Canada
PT6 turboprops.
SIAI S-101 :single engined six seat cantilever low wing monoplane
with retractable landing gear and powered by a 235hp
Walter Bora radial engine.
CVV P.110 :three/four seat cabin monoplane.
CVV PM.280 Tartuca :single seat low wing single engined monoplane.
Agusta CP-110 :four seat monoplane powered by a 145 hp Alfa
110ter engine.
Agusta A-111 :single engined two seat version of CP-110.
Marineavia QR.14 Levriero :twin engined four seat touring aircraft,
powered by De Havilland Gipsy Major 10 engine.
 
Dear All

I am very impressed with people's knowledge and sources referred to on this list. For someone who likes obscure and 'paper' planes this is heaven!

Here is a short list of Italian aircraft projects I'd love to find plans/sketches for, can anyone help?

1) Caproni-Vizzola F.7
2) Caproni Ca 350
3) Caproni Ca 365/370
4) Fiat G.52 (only detailed part-plan I have seen is in Ali DiItalia No.6 "Fiat G.50" by Piero Vergnano)
5) Breda Zappatta BZ.306 bomber

Also does anyone have any technical specs on the Piaggio P.127 bomber andf P.132 fighter (as shown in Aerofan No.65)?

Ahem....
F.7, and Capronis, you'll have to wait (publishing project on the way...). G.52, maybe I have something. Zappata BZ.306: forget about it. Everything, save the specs, were destroyed in post-bankrupcy chaos in Breda Aviazione. Nothing in Zappata's estate, too. P.127 and P.132: nothing. The drawings themselves comes from Ing. Casiraghi estate. Piaggio archives have been destroyed (save the windtunnel models).

Thanks for that. Book sounds intriguing - just Italian aircraft or broader than that?

Try and get Flitzer to do some artwork for it - his colour drawings are fabulous!

Book will be on the Caproni Bergamasca's last projects (up to Ca.381 and a score of unnumbered ones). I'm helping in editing and adding images to an unpublished manuscript by the great Rosario Abate. BTW, in next issue of Aerofan (n. 100) you'll find an article on the last Caproni-Taliedo projects (up to and including the Ca.195). And next Ali d'Italia will be on the Ca.323 series.
 
Well sounds like some good stuff coming up!

Will you let us know as/when these various books become available to buy?

Sure: Ali d'Italia in in print now, so give a month. Aerofan 100 is closed now, will go to press next week or so. The Caproni one, no earlier than december.

I've been looking out for the Ali d'Italia book you mentioned on the Ca.323 series but no-one is showing it for sale yet. Do you know if it has been delayed?

Reggiane 2001 bis

One prototype built (MM538) using parts from the initial Re 2001 prototype (MM409). Changes are removal of wing guns (2x7.7mm Breda-Safat) and the relocation of the radiators to the leading edges of the wings. Tests were conducted from the summer of 1941 to 1942 where a maximum speed of 600km/h at 6000m was attained, as opposed to 540km/h for the conventional Re 2001. The wing radiators would later be adopted for the Re 2006.

I spoke before about the IMAM Ro.47 and it was a fighter,a friend
told me that it was developed from Ro.37,but he didn't give me any

fighter project and Fiat B.R.26 two seat light bomber.

the Caproni Ca.121 was monoplane bomber and CANSA had a project
for glider dive bomber,can anybody confirm those informations ?.

brief word means low wing and the third means lightplane,what is the second word
meaning ?.

On AeroKnow, "tadr" just refers to a tail-dragger configuration.

Do you mean what does "tail-dragger configuration" mean?

If so, "tail-dragger" is just a slang term for any aircraft with a tail wheel (as opposed to a tricycle undercarriage arrangement, for example).

I add here the drawings of the Guidonia I, a three-engined bomber project remained on paper designed by Santangelo, of which only the wood models were build. The project was presented in 1938, for the competition for a new bomber for the Regia Aeronautica. The project was not accepted, and they did nothing with that. The pictures are taken from "Aerofan" magazine, in detail the number 4/1983.

Is that a fourth engine in the rear fuselage? It looks like it is powering some sort of turbocharger. Seems odd to have the weight of a whole engine to power a single turbo unit for three other engines...

Maybe I am missing something?

It appears to be a version of the german 'HZ-Anlage' device, as fitted to the Henschel Hs 130E,
and Dornier 217P aircraft.
A system operating on the same principle was also used by some Soviet Pe-8/TB-7 aircrasft.

The increased power at altitude more than compensates for the extra weight...

Beautiful, interesting concept that movable wing, the aircraft seems a bit unestable though. Thanks for the link.

The one source that I have to hand, Jonathan Thompson's Italian Civil and Military Aircraft 1930-1945 (Aero, 1963), says that the articulated wing on the Magni-Jona J.6 was fitted with an automatic aileron control system. The design made the airplane unspinnable and thus inherently safe unless the pilot locked the wing.

A J.6S derivative with a fixed wing was offered as a military trainer. The G.M.S. web site says that six were ordered.

The Thompson book says that this was an attack bomber design with 4 x 20-mm cannon and 2 x 12.7-mm machine guns. It was to have a span of 48 ft 6.66 in and a length of 43 ft 5.66 in. Loaded weight was planned to be 12,560 lbs. With the Zeta engines, it was expected to achieve 395 mph.
