"Bellamy Hillborne B.H.1 Halcyon - All-wood four-seater with retractable nosewheel undercarriage, powered by two 105 h.p Walter Minor engines. Designed by R.J.Hillborne and built at Eastleigh by the Hampshire Aero Club under the direction of V.H.Bellamy 1960-61. One aircraft only: G-ARIO. C/n HAC.5. registered to V.H.Bellamy 1.1961.construction well advanced by 5.1961 and engines run 9.1961,but the project was abandoned when the aircraft was damaged during taxyng trials 2.1962.
Span 30 ft 5 in. Length 23 ft 7 in. A.U.W 1,800 lb. Cruise 150 m.p.h. Range 300 miles."

Arthur Ord-Hume ('British Private Aircraft 1946-1970', Vol.2 'An A to Z of Club & Private Aeroplanes' (MMP Books, 2013)) says that Ray Hilborne's design was originally known as the Hornet and then became the Hampshire Aero Club HAC.2 Halcyon, but when it was registered as G-ARIO, on January 31st 1961, it was titled the Bellamy Hilborne BH.1 Halcyon. The damage suffered in taxiing trials was severe, namely a fracture of the centre section rear spar (which Ord-Hume blamed on 'Eastleigh's rather rough, rabbit-hole-pocked surface'), which rendered the Halcyon beyond economic repair and thus the project was abandoned, resulting in the aeroplane being put into storage and eventually its remains were burned.
