In the Aircraft Circulars NACA no.48 (concerning the Gambet) is written:
The main landing gear is equipped with special streamlined deck-landing hooks.
a. Who can help me with more details/drawings/pictures of these hooks? I did not see them on pictures of the Gambet.
b Where these also used on the A1N?

Dimensions:
Concerning the Gambet I following:
Span 31' 10'
Length 21' 4"
Heigth 11' 8"
Are these dimensions correct.

Concerning the A1N1 and A1N2:
Span 31' 10"
Length 21' 4"
Heigth 11' 10"

But in Japanese Aircraft by Mikesh and Abe the came with the following dimensions:
A1N1 A1N2
Span 31' 9" 31' 10"
Length 21' 3 1/2" 21' 3 3/4"
Height 10' 8" 10' 10"

It is known that did some changing of the original design for the Jap NAVY and that later for the 2 version also some modifications?
What these changings and modifications here I dont know , who knows?

who can give me any information etc etc ?
Thanks

The hooks are visible on the photographs, attached to the axle next to the wheels. They were not the same as those used on later aircraft carriers where the arrestor wires ran across the deck, but the early system trialled on British carriers where the wires ran parallel to the deck, there were many of them about 40cm apart and 30cm above the deck. They were designed to stop the aircraft from sliding sideways when it landed but were not very effective and often damaged the undercarriage. Here is what it looked like.

thanks for the info, do you know if the Japanese navy used this system on ther carriers or only the british?

I'm not sure, but I think the US may have tested the system onshore. It damaged so many aircraft on the British carriers that it was soon abandoned.
