In the Fugaku committee, the proposal of various airplanes was shown and confusion arose. (by Sotaro Mizutani)
The plan shown in following drawings may also be one of them.
Top one might be a Kawanishi plan as some one said. Bottom one's tail stabilizer horizontal shape looks like Mitsubishi Ki-67's one.
Kawasaki concentrated Ki-91 and Tachikawa concentrated Ki-74 at the day.

Wing and tailplane shape of the design in the first and third picture reminds me o
the He 111, in which Japan was interested before the war, IIRC, but never got them.
Nevertheless, plans and even the original may well have been known after losses of the
Chinese airforce in the Sino-Japanese war.

Hi!
http://www.doujinpress.com/products/50635~040030036489/

There were four reports for HA-54(HA-505) preliminary cooling performance test.
I got No.1 and No.2 report. According to No.2 report, test result was not sufficient, especiall the fourth row cylinder cooling, need modification for cooling air buffle shape. I will try to get No.3 and No.4 report.

Hopefully he isn't one of those "smart business" men, just trying to make the best of
those documents, although it would be somewhat understandable, I must say. A lot
of original docs, drawings and photos are said to have been vanishing into collections,
with their owners not having the slightest interest in making them public, not as books
or otherwise. :-[

I have wonder. Just where did the IJA/N ever think they would get the fuel for such a beast

I believe this transport was a Chikuhei Nakajima's private venture which transport oil and industrial materials from Southern area to Japan instead of surface transport.

Hi Winston-san. I got this calender from one member of Fugaku Flying club. And scanned, then posted.
The size of this calender is about 50 cm × 80cm. Blue print size is same as the original one. ;)
Date of this drawing was 5/March/1943.
Base of this design was Z-bomer designed by Nakajima aircraft Ohta factory. Engine power was half compared with Z-bomber

Many thanks Motocar-san. Excellent drawings!!
The first drawing which you posted is Fugaku final design artistic impression.(With pressurized cabin)
I believe that Fugaku final design did not have turbocharged engine. Fugaku final design had the engine with single stage 3 speed mechanical super charger. Number of propeller blade is eight.(Single propeller)
The second one is Z-bomber designed by Nakajima aircraft Koizumi factory. I believe this drawing is the trace of original drawing, reliable one. This design did not have pressurized cabin. This design was a one of the base of Fugaku final design. This design had turbocharged engine.
Perhaps Nakajima aircraft did not succeed to devolop tuebocharged HA-54 engine for Fugaku final design.

Thank you Blackkite. :)

I tried combining the images but Photoshop requires the scans of the nose and middle overlap before it will work!

Good idea ! Corel doesn't have this limit, but I couldn't compensate the slightly
different colors from the separate scans.

I can add them together normally or use Photomerge to account for changes in perspective.

I saved this image a while ago but I cannot read the caption. Is it related to the Z-Plane? Can you read it? :D

Wow amazing drawing! Thanks for sharing us.
Of course I can read it. Yes I believe this design related to Z-plane. One of the Chikuhei Nakajima's private venture.
The engine is HA-54 same as Z-plane.(5000hp 36 cylinders aircooling radial)
caption says that
This is a conceptional drawing of an airplane which possesses four engines planned simultaneously with an airplane which possesses six engines.

This one? I really want to know your source. ;)

I think this bomber was almost same design compared with 6 engine transport.
This design was called temporaly 6 engine bomber with HA-44 enigne.(Half power compared with Z-plane.)
This was a backup of radical Z-bomber. You can see turrets which transport did not have.

Interesting! So this was the original drawing from 1/28/1943 by the Nakajima club. When were the plans from Ohta and Koizumi proposed?

Was the HA-44 a, or developed as, an alternative fuel engine, by any chance?

A wood turpentine oil is the liquid like oil the thing to which batsune of a pine (stump) is dried distill gives. It's called Matsune turpentine. Use as a raw material of aerial gas was tried in Japan during the Pacific War, but didn't come to practical use because effort spanned and the yield was also very bad.
