Focke-Wulf Midwar Giant Bomber Projects

Sometime during WW2 Focke-Wulf studied a series of 3 very heavy bomber/reconnaissance aircraft designs, which go as follows:

Wulf Fw P.0310.224.20
Long range bomber powered by 4 BMW 801E engines. Patrol and reconnaissance configurations were envisioned.

Wulf Fw P.0310.224.30
Long range bomber powered by 6 BMW 801E engines. Based upon P.0310.224.20 design, likely had increased range and/or capacity.

Wulf Fw P.0310.225
Long range bomber powered by 4 BMW 801D engines. Had a twin tail boom configuration. Close project numbers and compatible role means it probably was designed together with the above two projects, or very shortly afterwards, probably for the same program.

There's no exact dates for them, but since they appear on the Fw design number list before the 1000x1000x1000 project and use 801E engines, my guess would be 1943-1944.

The Focke-Wulf Fw 261 was a project for a long-range bomber/sea fighter aircraft of the Focke-Wulf-Flugzeugbau GmbH.

The Focke-Wulf Fw 261 was intended to be a replacement of the Focke-Wulf Fw 200 "Condor", which was able to bring the German U-boats operating in the Atlantic to the enemy convoys with a long range and considerably increased combat power. At the same time, enemy ships were to be fought by means of drop weapons. With a range of 9000 km and a bomb load of 3000 kg, the Focke-Wulf Fw 261 was to reach a speed of 560 km/h and a maximum flight duration of 22 hours. As a cantilevered shoulder-wing aircraft with a central fuselage and two tail girders arranged behind the outer engine nacelles, the central fuselage was intended to accommodate four weapon emplacements and part of the fuel as well as the drop weapons. It should be noted that the designation Fw 261 was used by Focke-Wulf without permission from the Reich Ministry of Aviation.

BMW 803 28-cylinders testing. Focke Wulf worked on a proposel for the Kampfflugzeug (long-range combat aircraft) competition, planning to use those engines. The bomber in this plans was an early design, different from the final form: the Ta 400. In Automn 1944 the project was canceled.

This design was a further development of 03.10206-20 with the same dimensions, but powered by four 2,800hp BMW802 radial engines.The ultimate aim of these projects was to develop a long range bomber capable of carrying out nuisance raids against targets in the United States.
