There are always tons of spacecraft in the world of science fiction but I am always especially looking out for ones that look plausible and could be built today or in the near future. First are some sketches and designs for various vehicles shown in the Japanese animated series "Gundam" (Set in the 22nd century) (Pictures from http://aboutgundamwing.com/mecha_seriesmechanical.htm)

Here are the concept art designs for the Mars vehicle and the completed ISS in 2020 from the movie "Mission to Mars" (These were from the M2M DVD built-in website on the disc, which is a copy of the official movie website)

Kagaya Yutaka is a very talented artist who has done space as some of his themes and here are some paintings of a space plane (http://www.kagayastudio.com/space/index.html)

Strikers 1945 III was an overhead view shoot-em-up arcade game that had a low earth orbit space station as one level. One of the vehicles is a small shuttle craft (similar to some of the early lifting body X-planes) and one is a more larger space shuttle with built in rocket and fuel tanks below the body (which I assume if was made in real life would be for fuel as a shuttle between various stations in orbit) I will also as soon as I can get around to getting an image of the whole space station itself, it is definitely very impressive in looks and size, imagine the Space station freedom with an extra budget of 50 billion dollars

And here is a custom space shuttle model shown on the starship modeler website. I remember sending him an E-mail and asking about the model, he said it was built from scratch and was based on some of the earliest space shuttle designs.

One particular fictional spacecraft I've always been interested in is the USCSS Nostromo from the 1979 sci-fi/horror movie Alien. Realism I'm not sure about giving its size, but it was based on (then current) NASA specifications.

One thing that really surprizes me is the intended size of the ore refinery it towed (half a mile long!).

Thanks for the link!

Also I'll add this, for more looks at the Nostromo, as well as its interior sets and the ore refinery:

Somewhat off-topic, I'm afraid, for this forum. I've put the topic in Theoretical and Speculative Projects but I'm not sure endless pics of toy spaceships even belongs here.

Yup. Way too small for an interstellar ore refinery. Double or quadruple the size would seem more realistic to me B)

but Nostromo a Realistic Spacecraft ?
from look and feel yes, but realistic no way !
we are far away from FTL Engine, Fusionreactors, Hibernation and A.I.

Discovery1b.JPG
800px-Discovery_One_from_trailer_of_2001_A_Space_Odyssey_%281968%29.png

the Discovery One from Kubrick "2001:a space odyssey" that's realistic spacecraft
(except for Hibernation and HAL)

also the Marsship from "Conquest of Space" by George Pál (littel help by Dr. Von Braun)

"Mission to Mars" show some nice Hardware until the scrip jumps in and make it a annoying Movie.
another example is this silly Mars movie with Val Kilmer because the odd Hardware and bad Script.

certainly Nostromo look ultra cool because Ridley Scott wanted a realist looking Movie
and not like others makes of B-Movies, Z-Movies, Syfy-Movies and Psychotronic movie
using the same abandoned Factory as Space ship/space station as interior furnishings ?!
because it cheap not realism

on toy stuff from G.I. Joe (Hasbro ©) and Gundam (Bandai ©)

You might want to take a look at the POLESTAR H-01 painting on page 21 in that book.

I love the Ford Dealership painting at the bottom of page 64 - too bad it's off topic for this group.
