More then a year ago, I was asked by a friend for infos about CR.42 variants. As this
is not my special theme, I could just look through the my sources , found just a 2-seat
trainer and the DB 601 powered variant and then more or less forgot about it.
Now I read in RAF Flying Review 11/56, that there were prototypes with retractable landing
gear and a twin float version . Is there anyone, who has photos/drawings of them ?

Can't help with real photos of the floatplane, but there is a model of it available by Classic Airframes:

I believe it was designated ICR.42 (though I may be wrong here).

Greg

My dear Jemiba,

for Fiat CR.42 variants:

CR.42 (Fighter-Bomber):was the early conversion to carry 441 Ib
bombload for ground attack.

CR.42AS :developed a fighter bomber with tropical carburettor,
dust filter and racks for two 220 Ib bombs.

CR.42CN :night fighter version.

CR.42DB :single seat with 1160 hp Daimler-Benz DB-601E engine.

ICR.42 :was CR.42 mounted on twin floats, developed by CMASA.

CR.42LW :designation of the night harassment and anti-paratisan
version,produced by Fiat to Luftwaffe.

CR.42 Two Seat:two seat version produced for Sweden only.

The float-equipped CR.42 was the ICR.42 with I standing for Idrovolante.

CR.42DB - fastest biplane fighter.
