Not that Taildog wasn't a good idea. "If the missile locks on, it will hit." "A gun that shoots around corners." etc

I think taildog/SRAAM would be the next logical step if radar Red Top was developed, which it might well be if the RAF had a large enough homogeneous fighter fleet.

Yeah, but if I recall correctly:

1) Taildog actually worked.

2) Albeit as a trials jury-rig, it could be fitted to something as relatively unsophisticated as a Hunter.
