From my dear Jemiba,

To meet Spec ER.134T which called for a research vehicle
capable of high supersonic speed and long endurance, the
English Electric desided to submitt an improved fighter deve-
loped from P.1 Lightning, investigations were made into P.6/1
with a slim fuselage and single RB.106 engine ;P.6/2 with two
Armstrong Siddeley S.2.7 or Rolls-Royce RA.18 engines with
fully variable reheat and a delta wing variant. In addition a
canard aircraft (P.6D) and a straight wing design with wing
mounted engines (P.6B) were drawn.
