Late in 1936 ,Lufthansa asked for flying boats crossing without stop the Atlantic .

- Dornier proposal was the Do 20 ,8x1000hp,4 propeller,56t.
- Heinkel proposal was the He 120 ,4x800hp, 4 propeller ,29t.
- Blohm&Voss (Hamburger Flugzeugbau) proposal, and contest winner, was the P54 wich became the Ha 222 and at last the BV 222 ,6x1000hp,6 propeller,49t .

Probably candidate engines for Dornier 20 could be Jumo 207, i think!
So seems inspired by Latecoere 521-523
