The designation for this aircraft is also referred to as T.39 in the title of the NACA paper Tests on a Model of the D Airplane T 39 of the "Deutsche Flugzeug Werke", and the first paragraph of this paper has the airplane's designation as T.29.

Old thread, I know. T 29 was simply the factory designation for the DFW C V reconnaissance biplane.
