Any advice on interesting places and museums in the area of Normandy invasion ?

I will take my Yankee better half there next week, to the American cemetery. Of course we'll also tour the beaches Omaha/Hoc/etc. I'm not sure we'll attend the official ceremonies on June 6 (not a crowd and speeches guy), but any advice on what look for (or avoid) would be appreciated.
