Little information here:

Re: RAE B.11/41

aaah what a goregeous design!
i feel a scratchbuilt model coming on!

Re: RAE B.11/41

In a sense I see this a somewhat British equivalent program to that of the Douglas XB-43 Jetmaster, in attempting of deriving a heavy bomber role into a smaller and (most importantly) cheaper to manufacture design?

Well just a thought!

Regards
Pioneer

Re: RAE B.11/41

yes pioneer, i agree.
It does seem to fit into that category, doesnt it? .

Re: RAE B.11/41

The wing planform is very reminiscent of the Westland-Hill Pterodactyl designs, as if the designer liked the clear fields of fire to the rear of the Westlands but distrusted the tailless pitch stability and added a small canard. Belt AND suspenders.... ;)

Here is the lovely Pterodactyl MkVII for comparison.

Re: RAE B.11/41

the miles M.39 libellula was also proposed for B11/41, and the M.39B scale model built and tested....

cheers,
Robin.

The DH 99/101 was the three crew Super Mosquito with twin Sabres and was dropped when DH were told Sabres wouldn't be available as DH didn't think the Griffin 61 was an adequate replacement. A slightly smaller Griffin or Merlin 61 Mosquito II was then schemed as the DH 102, but abandoned to concentrate on the Hornet and Vampire.

Both the DH 101 and the Hawker P1005 are described in BSP: Fighters and Bombers 1935-50.

Hawker P.1005 Twin-Engine, Three-Seat High-Speed Light Bomber / Heavy Fighter

P.1005 had six radiators which located around each engine.

B.11/41 OR.110 High-speed high-altitude unarmed bomber de Havilland DH.99(Modified Mosquito with two Sabre engine(Later called DH.101)), Hawker P.1005, Miles M.39

Miles M.39B was a 5/8ths scale flying model of M.39 Libellula. Sorry for off topic.

"However, the M.35 demonstrator seemed so promising that Miles had gone forward without a pause on development of a fast medium bomber, under the general cover of Air Ministry specification B.11/41, issued to encourage development of a successor to the de Havilland Mosquito. The bomber was given the designation of "M.39" and was to be powered by three Power Jets W.2/500 centrifugal-flow turbojets or equivalent powerplants, giving a top speed of 800 KPH (500 MPH). Since the turbojets might not be available at the outset, twin piston engines -- Rolls-Royce Merlins were seen as the preferred powerplants -- were considered as an alternative, with the aircraft's configuration allowing considerable commonality between the jet and piston versions."
