Hello,
Does anyone have any drawings of the ARH Skyflash project(s?), or the ramjet Rb 73?
If you do not have a drawing, but have seen them in the past, I would also be happy with a description.

The closest I have come is this picture repository from a Swedish museum, which shows the ARH Jaktrobot 321 which was test fired in the days of J 35 development; http://www.canit.se/~griffon/aviation/img/arbm03/arbm_0307.html
From what I have read, SAAB in the early 60's also tried out an ARH seeker in a missile based on the AIM-4.
 
More likely that it was an ARH version of the SARH AIM-26B/Rb-27 than the AIM-4/Rb-28. You start from a larger airframe with a more powerful motor. Too, it would make more sense to try going from SARH to ARH rather than from IRH to ARH.
 
The line drawing of Rb.73 in British Secret Projects shows the intakes for the ramjet down the side of the missile, presumably that would cause problems for semi recessed carriage in place of the original Sky Flash?

Not really, not if there're two intakes like on the Meteor AAM which can be carried semi-recessed like the AMRAAM on the Typhoon fighter aircraft.

You put the inlets ~90deg apart instead of 180deg apart. (Or however far apart you can get them to clear the fuselage while the missile is in the conformal rack.)

Which of the British Secret Projects books?

I worked at BAe Hatfield in the early 70's with some responsibilities for Skyflash (RB71a) and also looked at some configuration aspects of the RB73, which had the twin intakes looking very much like the Meteor missile today. I always thought they looked very similar to Concorde inlets and yes the Rocket/Ramjet was the Volvo Flygmotor. Some aerodynamic work was done on launch dynamics to be sure there was no foul, particularly due to rail launcher/Fin interactions and turbulence from the aircraft, which was probably based on Tornado at the time.
Afraid I don't believe I have any drawings, but will look in my notes to see if there is anything that might be of interest.

Cheers Paul - slight correction re typo of date. It was 90's not 70's, otherwise I would now be in my 90's! I will look for any other details that may be of interest to members. By the way, whilst at BAe I also got involved in the MSOW (Modular Stand Off Weapon) project, which I believe was the forerunner to Storm Shadow, I'll look online to see if there is a section for this one and add anything I can recall/got in my notes. Maybe also my work in the 80's on a replacement to the Hunting Engineering Ltd LAW80 that could be fired from an enclosure/room. Lastly, in the 90's my responsibilities for the UAE PGM1 & 2 Warheads whilst I was at Ferranti's in Oldham, which encompassed our proposal (called Pegasus) work on SR(A) 1242? - not sure off hand about the number and which was awarded to the American's and their Paveway 2.
