A French One off

A ship that always fascinated me as I leafed through Janes Fighting Ships over the years was the frigate "Aconit".

French escort ships make interesting comparisons with the RN.
Aconit was the closest thing I can find to a Leander.

Strangely I also had a fascination with this.
I think the lack of helicopter facilities were a major issue .. but I personally also suspect the propulsion choice and in particular the single shaft/screw would have been issues, although this is my opinion.
I think the hull type of the later Georges Leagues was influenced by this vessel?

Leygues. As in George Leygues, one of the very few outstanding minister the French Navy ever had (unfortunately his successor, Darlan become a Vichy France groupie)
