The name comes from a two part weapons system concept the A3J being "Air Weapon #1" the TS-149 submission being "Air Weapon #2"

Now that is an interesting document. It looks like the idea is AW2 is the workhorse, and AW1 is the racehorse when you need maximum performance. The USAF F-111/A-7 combo might be a good comparison.

TS-149 looks like it's A-7 sized; I wonder what they had in mind for night and adverse weather sensors, because that nose doesn't look like it has room for something like the A-6's sensor suites.

Looks sort of Vautourish to me. I have wondered about what a carrier-based Vautour would be like.

in Air Pictorial 10/1957,there was thirteen companies and not eight,so maybe those
companies were involved;


Convair,Fairchild,McDonnell,Northrop & Republic ?,for McDonnell,it was M-121.

Is there any confirm about Republic ?.
