Estol and…. conventional looking aircraft that have been “ electrified “ will be the easiest to certify; for the near term. They also tend to be wide enough for side-by-side positioning of flight trainers and students which is a positive… compared to many
EVTOls which are set up only for one pilot ( and/or ultimately ) no pilot operation.

Chinese eVTOL start-up AutoFlight delivered its first CaryAll autonomous cargo drone to Heli Chuangxing Intelligent last week after receiving airworthiness certification from the Civil Aviation Administration of China (CAAC) on July 21. According to the Shanghai-based company, the CarryAll is now the first example of an eVTOL aircraft exceeding a one-ton maximum takeoff weight to achieve CAAC airworthiness certification.

AutoFlight obtained a type certificate for the CarryAll aircraft in March 2024, and in December the CAAC granted it the production license needed to begin manufacturing the type. It broke ground for the construction of its eVTOL aircraft factory in Wuhan on April 10.

I'm not saying it's true of all or even most, but there's a blurred line or a wide continuum linking optimism, unsupported wishful thinking, and deliberate fraud rather than a barrier, and companies will often slide over to the dark side as problems start to emerge, deadlines are missed, and investors start asking where there money went.

We like to root for the plucky outsider, like Parsons with his steam turbine that truly revolutionised naval propulsion, but he looks more like the outlier. Better to trust a larger company like Airbus that funds a programme out of its deep pockets for the long time necessary to bring a new technology to profitability - or has the assurance from other income streams to cancel it when the sums don't add up rather than clinging on desperately.

Tongue a bit in cheek, perhaps the TRL scale should have extra horizontal axes for veracity and profitability?

It has been my observation that even flight-proven hardware on the very highest rung of the TRL scale can often get poor-mouthed to death due to purely economic/political concerns.

Ask anyone named “Rand”-something on their opinion about LVs developed and/or built in Alabama.

So help me, if somebody in Marshall invented anti-gravity and propellantless propulsion in something about as big as a Spinner sized flying car…it wouldn’t matter.

Because you KNOW some Musk fan would throw shade on it.

Interesting. Boyle discusses vapourware in the video - it's not simply empty promises, but malicious misrepresentation so as to undermine competitors.

Regarding Archer, it seems they have taken some liberties with Aerospace structural construction. All is built as a torsion box with no stringer visible and very few ribs for the wing (I did download high res images).
Notice also on some picture the apex at the mid leading edge resulting from the upper and lower surface skin joint. Not sure how that will live through dozens of flights.

Possibly a variant on the Vickers Type 432 'lobster claw' wing structure?

I'm none too sure of that seat either, looks like they cut a section of tread off a motorbike tyre.

And just how hot does that body get in sustained flight? Look at that sheet of plywood they're taking off from - there's a smaller rectangle of some (heat-resistant?) material between the skids, but there's also blackening/charring around its edge.

I was surprised at how much dust and muck it was kicking up over grass - that's not going to be popular with the neighbours.
