I noticed how the Air Marshal in that press conference was pretty professional and, amazingly, compassionate.
The slide deck was very good and the DOD-speak was uncanny. Incredible detail, good grasp of doctrine, impressive-sounding ELINT operation.

Obviously, the PAF put their best foot forward, and the whole press conference and slide deck was tailored for western audiences (particularly US DOD - there's a long history of person-to-person exchanges with the USAF), as part of their diplomatic efforts in the conflict, so it is important to keep a clear head.

If anyone is itching to take political sides, simply compare the human rights legislation and associated government action records of both conflict parties. I'm not an advocate for either party, but simply offering a path forward for impartial analysis.

News ONLY topic...

TLDR: Wrong font for 'Rafale' compared to existing photographs of BS001, seam line intersects top of rudder at wrong angle.

I'll kindly refer you to the *DISCUSSION* of aircraft attrition rates *RIGHT ABOVE* my post. NEWS ONLY??? I have no problem with rules, as long as they are equally and neutrally enforced.
Oh please, this is a private forum, they own the playground.
But let’s be real, nothing beats the comedy gold of watching keyboard warriors preach ‘fairness’ while pulling shady power moves. Same script, different stage: whether IRL or online, the hypocrisy show never gets old.

Who shot it down? Which tail number bit the dust? Honestly, couldn’t care less.
The whole world’s already seen that M88 pancaked into a scrap-metal lasagna.
What’s juicy now is watching Indians and Frenchmen scrambling to spin this shitshow — pass the popcorn, the blame game’s prime-time entertainment.

They were at least discussing the finer details of the news, not inviting people to take political sides by evaluating each side's human rights records. There's offtopic, and there's OFFTOPIC...
To reiterate the point I explicitly stated, I am *NOT* an advocate for either party, but simply attempting to offer a path forward for impartial analysis. I have to admit however that your "offtopic/OFFTOPIC" "distinction" sounds vaguely Orwellian to me. *Any* post on this site is (or at least ideally should be) subject to critical examination as well as potential discussion, no?

I'll wait for positive confirmation on the Rafale tail - most of the Indian's argument on photoshop/editing that has been put out appears convincing to me, but OTOH there's editing and then there's BS001 making it back safely to base or not which we haven't seen.

The courageous defense the Indian force has put up against Pakistani drone attacks has been incredibly under-reported, but then they are actively obfuscate data for the propaganda war. Such commitment from an entire populace shocks-and moves me to the core.

Living as a European in sunny Southern California, I have absolutely no horse in this race, but it will for sure be an excellent test case how the mods handle your post as opposed to mine...

That's a weird very uninformed report from Flight global..

The paint on the rudder and vertical is a coating layer that needs maintenance. Being not part of the identification markings, the Rafale signs might simply have been replaced later during the life of the aircraft by this one with a different police.
No regulation, means a full liberty by the maintenance team to alter the police how they prefer or interpret it. What would be needed is a contemporary picture of the aircraft prior to its alleged shot down.

Then again, psy ops are real but it does not mean that we have to take conclusions from inconsequential things like that. Especially on the website of a serious aerospace magazine.

"Inconsequential things" are exactly the things people tend to get wrong.

(cf the FSB issuing illegals fake passports from a known batch of passport numbers, to reference a well known recent example).
