The absence of anything in this thread other than photos of tinkered with Il-10s and MiG-17s from 50 years ago suggests that this thread is never going to give us a rich crop of North Korean indigenous aircraft.
Several months after this thread was made North Korea tested cruise missile with range of 1500 kilometers in September of 2021.

During late January of 2022 there was test of even longer range cruise missile by North Korea with range of 1800 kilometers.

That is more than enough to cover both Japan and Taiwan in their entirety.

Longer range than Iranian Hoveyzeh with 1200km range demonstrated and South's Hyunmoo-3C with estimated 1500km range.

There is expectation that sooner or later technology from this cruise missile may be used on unmanned reconnaissance aircrafts.

The white colored one has a rectangular air intake, long intake duct, higher mounted wings....

The black colored one has a round air intake, and mid mounted wings....

I am curious as to where they are getting small turbine engines from

White one also has longer wings than black one.

From whom? They are producing them.
Building a small, single use cruise missile engine should be well within NK industrial capabilities IMHO.
Russia exported TRDD-50/36MT miniature two-spool low-medium bypass turbofan powered Kh-35 to North Korea in 2005.
Likely reverse engineered or an example to analyze and gain knowledge for miniature turbofan design principle.
Iran for example reverse engineered Microturbo Tri-60 series and then developed derivative turbojet engines.

I wonder what are the reasons for the 2 intake designs?

North Korea's cruise missile turbofan engine

We can see the distinctive external bypass shrink section, which is very close to the characteristics of the 36MT turbofan.

According to the report, the main problem with engine production seems to be material production capacity and quality (not sure).

Considering dozens of LACM tested at 1500-2000 kilometers, good enough quality.

36MT aka TRDD-50 at most can do 10 hours.
