Global Military Spending - NEWS ONLY

After the 9/11 attacks, the US will have spent $5.8tn waging war in Afghanistan, Iraq, Pakistan and Syria by the end of 2022, according to updated figures from the Costs of War Project at Brown University.

The figure - which includes interest on debt used to finance the wars - will continue to increase in the decades ahead, with healthcare for veterans projected to hit $2.2tn by 2050.

The wars in Afghanistan and Iraq differ from previous wars as they were mostly funded by borrowing, rather than through taxes and war bonds.

"It's critical we properly account for the vast and varied consequences of the many US wars and counterterror operations since 9/11, as we pause and reflect on all of the lives lost," Neta Crawford, a co-director of the Costs of War Project and chair of the political science department at Boston University, told CBS News.

I don’t agree with the premise that these were borrowed funds. Defense is a constitutionally enumerated power of the federal government so “tax” dollars should go there first. As long as total defense plus war spending was less than total tax receipts then what we were really borrowing for was to pay for unconstitutional programs.

From 1% to 2% of GDP ($5tn), timeframe not defined.

Ukrainian research and production enterprise "Praktika" (Praktika) reported that tactical armored vehicles "Kozak-2M1" wheel formula 4×4 will be equipped with a remotely controlled weapons module SARP and SARP Dual Turkish company Aselsan. Combat modules will allow, being in the cabin of an armored car, to control weapons. For example, in paired mode, two machine guns or a machine gun and a grenade launcher. In September 2021, during the IDEF 2021 defense industry exhibition in Istanbul, an agreement was signed on the modernization of the air defense system of Ukraine with Aselsan equipment. The Turkish side should modernize some air defense systems and integrate with their fire control system. Aselsan SARP is a combat module that can be armed with a 12.7 mm machine gun (ammunition 400 rounds), 7.62 mm (1000 rounds) or 40 mm automatic grenade launcher (96 grenades). The module without weapons and ammunition weighs about 215 kg, it consists of a stabilization system, day and thermal imaging cameras, a laser rangefinder and an automatic target tracking system (autotracker). Thanks to the built-in interface, the module easily integrates with external sensors and other combat control systems. SARP DUAL (variant with two types of weapons) has already been ordered by Kazakhstan. The Kozak-2M1 armored vehicle has a length of 6.23 m, a width of 2.5 m and a height of 2.3 m (without weapons), a vehicle weight of 12 tons, a 280 hp Iveco diesel engine power plant, which is arranged by an automatic transmission supplied by ZF. Depending on the equipment, the car can fit from 3 to 10 soldiers. The armor of the car corresponds to level 2 STANAG 4569A. The machine has different versions, including BRM, APC and ambulance of the wounded. The Armed Forces of Ukraine received the first Kozak-2M for testing in 2018, the official entry into service took place in April 2020. In March 2021, the first batch entered service with the Marine Corps of Ukraine. TTX "Kozak-2M1": Range — 260 km Maximum speed — 110 km/h Engine power — 280 hp Ground clearance 500 mm The publication notes that this is not the first example of Aselsan's cooperation with Ukraine. In particular, the Turkish company supplied radio stations for modernized Ukrainian tanks. And the Ukrainian Design Bureau "Luch" supplied Anti-Tank Missiles Skif for Turkish combat modules.

Interesting fact you take out the so called flow through funds the USAF has had $1 trillion less funding over the last 30 years than the Army and Navy

Not to mix up the 2 trillion dollar facts Gen Deptula stated -

1) Non-blue AF budget since 1991 till now adds up to $1 trillion.

2) Army was given an extra $1 trillion in OCO over the AF since 2001 till now. (He states this to provide logic for extra AF funding to the same tune now since just like GWOT was contingency largely on the ground, the upcoming prep for Pacific is a contingency for AF primarily)
