Vultee XP1015 and other twin engined Vultee fighter projects

I think Vultee XP-54 twin boom was copy of P-38 design. Main landing gear was retracted to the boom same as P-38.
Vultee studied P-38 design through XP1015 failure.
While XP1015 had intercooler, radiator and oil cooler at the outboard wing, XP-54 had intercooler, radiator and oil cooler at the inboard wing nevertheless single engine.
I imagine that XP1015 intercooler, radiator and oil cooler position is little hard, because outboard wing is thin.
Perhaps it 's good to locate radiator at the engine nacell same as P-38. But perhaps Vultee wanted to realize his idea.
So it was impossible to have fuel tanks at the inboard wing, all fuel tanks were located at the fuselage, XP-54 fuselage became very large. XP-54's weight was double campared with P-51. XP-54 was a longest single engine fighter at the day.
Expected maximum speed of XP-54 with cancelled P&W X-1800-A4G engine(2000hp) was 821km/h but only marked 621km/h with XH-2470 engine(2300hp). P&W X-1800-A4G(H-2600) engine was a non turbocharged single stage two speed mechanical supercharger with aftercooler sleeve valve engine. You can see aftercooler in the following X-1800 engine picture.
XP-54 had ultimately slim boom. But we digress. ;D

I think the stronger connection is between the XP-54 and the mysterious Hughes D-2. Dick Palmer probably worked on the latter plane before taking the chief engineer job at Vultee in 1939, and the two planes have some uncanny similarities. But we digress.

Vultee XP-35 : a bit more info..

Span : 48 ft.
lenght : 41 ft

Only one drawing survived of the XP-35.
No performance data are available.

Thanks a lot my dear lark.
XP-35 span is little short.
