As a German, I have no idea who those "Gerans" that you speak of are, but as an aerospace engineer I can confidently tell you that following the parsimony principle there is no reason whatsoever to use F-16s as launch platforms when crop dusters can perform the same mission.

Well, Ukraine did use F-16s against the Gerans, (or Shaheds, but they’re basically different now). Now they figured out a new platform that is more efficient and cheap.

Thanks - I honestly had no idea that "Gerans" are actually a thing, but then again I don't follow the thoroughly depressing conflict blow by blow...

Gerans - or Geraniums - are kamikaze drones with a warhead of around 50kg, they usually target energetic infrastructure, fortified positions, military offices. They’ve got a range from 500 to 2,500 km

Unfortunately for you, Gerans are perhaps one of the gamechangers of this war. They get sent en masse (800 monthly) and the 3 factories (under expansion too) could produce even up to 1000 a day. And Ukrainian air defense is failing at interception, only Gepards are capable of shooting them down, but they have too many few systems and low ammo, since a lot of ammo is required to shoot a single Geran-2 down.

Russian anti-drone measures range from the highly technical to the...not. Here we have some sort of mesh netting covering the Voronezh-DM radar in Kaliningrad.

The Mi-8 is a relatively medium size aircraft, larger than eg. the UH-1. Its sturdy construction apparently withstood the explosion of the charge carried by the Ukrainian FPV RC drone. I presume that the external and perhaps internal fuel tanks started to burn, which is clearly visible on the vids, but the aircraft frame remained intact, and the helo was controllable. Those who lost their lives were probably hit by a shrapnel from the explosion of the charge carried by the drone.

The vid also revealed that the pilot tried to bypass the incoming drone. Whether he had a sort of a 'drone homing warning receiver' ('DHWR', or 'DWR') like a 3mx Bulat or a Filin-I, or an Asel, is unattested. More o such devices here:
