Video on YouTubeSikorsky’s “Black Hawk 2070” modernization plan aims to keep the UH-60 Black Hawk relevant until at least 2070 through a new digital architecture, more powerful T901 engines, larger fuel tanks, a modular sensor nose, and the integration of drone-launching capabilities.
A key element of the strategy is increased autonomy through the MATRIX system, enabling optionally piloted operations and supporting the new U-Hawk, an unmanned cargo variant that Sikorsky plans to fly for the first time later this year.
Together, these upgrades are intended to transform the Black Hawk into a highly connected, drone-controlling battlefield platform with greater range, payload capacity, and survivability, while preserving its proven utility for both combat and humanitarian missions.
