Found information about STAM (Submarine Tactical Missile) or UGM-89 Perseus:

In March 1969, the U.S. Navy issued a requirement for the STAM (Submarine Tactical Missile), a new submarine-launched dual role (anti-sub/anti-ship) attack missile. It was to have a range between 9 km (5 nm) and 55 km (30 nm), and carry a new high-performance homing torpedo. STAM was to be a large missile with a length of about 7.6 m (300 in) and a diameter of 76 cm (30 in). This made it too large for torpedo tubes, and therefore a new attack submarine (SSN) type was proposed which would carry 20 STAMs in vertical launch tubes. This new SSN would have been much larger, and therefore much more expensive, than existing SSN classes. The STAM project and the new submarine class were eventually cancelled in 1973. As a replacement, the submarine-launched UGM-84 version of the Harpoon missile was developed and fielded on existing SSNs.

Hello everybody! I'm the one who was initially interested in images or drawings of the UGM-89 Perseus, that's why I asked Tzoli if he could ask here on my behalf, as I didn't have a forum account yet. Let me express my thanks for the effort and help to everyone involved. I believe these pictures will be of great help. What I wonder now is what torpedo should be realistically put inside it.

Well, after more than a year after asking about information of how the UGM-89 Perseus would have looked, I was finally able to make a 3D model of it. So, as a token of gratitude I think I should leave here a screenshot of how the model looks. The plan is for it to be implemented in the shipbuilding game NavalArt at some point in time, just in case someone is wondering why I modelled it. Again, let me thank everyone that helped on this endeavor, without your help this would have been impossible to accomplish.

with drones being launched from subs these days i would assume that if you had what ever object you wanted to deply the only reason a sub couldnt deply it is if you couldnt fold you item up enough to fit in the torpedo tubes or if you want to get wild have drones or other munitions have 2 of the trident silos preloaded qand ready to go.

subs are pretty crazy these days.

true but if we can fit tomahawks in VLS tubes and fired via torpedo tubes there is for sure room to fin folded up drones. like the BLACKWING that can be loaded into torpedo tubes are over 20 inches/533mm.

As far as launching stuff out of specialized VLS cells is hardly a technical issue

Very cool! So the STAM is a pure rocket? If they made a conventional warhead version with >200km range I could make a resemblance to the Kh-22 family.

The fact that for 20 pieces you needed a Seawolf sized sub with only 4 torpedo tubes and a modest torpedo room really says it all. It was a ballistic missile sub in all but name.

Nobody was doing that in 1969-1971 when STAM was an active programme.

There were a lot of concepts floating around at that time, not all of them closely related, and I'm not actually sure that the 30-mile range (rocket powered?) STAM with a torpedo fits well into the cruise missile story. At various times it seems to have been promised to be all things to all men.
